Blogathon 2026 is happening! Be part of the magic
The Good Docs Project Our Blogathon aims to bring writers from around the world together to share ideas, write blog posts, and explore the future of documentation. Learn more about the event and how you can participate.
What happens when you bring technical writers from around the world together for a few hours and give them space to write blog posts, share ideas, and imagine what’s next for documentation?
We’re about to find out. And we have a feeling it’s going to be magical.
On October 10–11, The Good Docs Project is hosting our first-ever Blogathon 2026, a free online writing event for everyone, whether you’re a member of The Good Docs Project or joining our community for the first time.
Think of it as part hackathon, part unconference, and part writing jam. Instead of building code, we’re building ideas.
And we want you to be part of it.
Share your magic with us
Our goal is to bring people from across the documentation community and beyond together to share their experiences, perspectives, and ideas and turn those conversations into a series of blog posts. After the event, we’ll publish those posts for the broader community to read, discuss, and learn from throughout the rest of 2026 and into next year.
In other words, what we create together during the blogathon doesn’t end when the event does.
Pick a question worth exploring
During the blogathon, you’ll choose an idea you care about and turn it into a blog post alongside other writers from around the world.
We’ve put together a collection of themes and example blog post ideas to get you started.
-
What makes documentation “good”?
-
What experience shaped you as a writer?
-
Are docs-as-code workflows changing?
-
Who writes the docs when there’s no technical writer?
-
How is AI reshaping the future of docs?
-
Who is the audience for documentation now that humans aren’t the only ones consuming it?
-
What is the future of technical writing as a profession?
-
What happens to documentation after you hit publish?
-
Are templates still useful in the age of AI-assisted documentation?
And if none of those questions are the ones you can’t stop thinking about, pitch us your own.
We’re not looking for the definitive answer to the future of documentation. We’re looking for your questions, your perspective, and your ideas.
You don’t need to arrive with a finished article. In fact, we’d rather you didn’t. The magic is in writing it together.
What to expect
The blogathon takes place across two days and two sessions so writers from different parts of the world can join us.
The EMEA/AMER session takes place on October 10. The AMER/APAC session takes place on October 10 for participants in the Americas and October 11 for participants in the APAC region due to time zone differences.
Choose whichever session works best for your time zone and schedule. Each session lasts roughly three hours. Check the event schedule for exact times in your region.
We’ll kick things off together before heading into dedicated writing time. You’ll have space to work on your blog, connect with other participants, and get personalized feedback on your draft from members of The Good Docs Project community and other writers.
Then comes our favorite part: the celebration.
You’ll have the opportunity to share what you created, hear what other writers explored, meet people from across the documentation community, and celebrate everything we made together.
After the blogathon, The Good Docs Project will review and edit submitted blogs before publishing them on our website as part of the Blogathon series. If you’d like, you can include a bio and links to your social profiles in your published post.
And yes, there will be exclusive Blogathon swag for participants too.
Be part of something new
This is our first blogathon, and we’re excited to see what we can create together.
We hope the blogathon becomes a place where people can test ideas, learn from one another, meet fellow writers or folks that are interested in documentation, and add their voices to a conversation that’s much bigger than any one of us.
And because the blogs we create will continue rolling out after the event and into next year, those conversations can keep going long after the blogathon ends.
Whether you’ve been contributing to The Good Docs Project for years or you’re discovering us through the blogathon, we’d love for you to join us and help shape what this event becomes.
